This semester, we learned how to create surveys and polls online; we also discussed the use of the Classroom Performance System (CPS). All of these are useful in education because they are easy, fun ways to collect data from students.
The CPS can be used to collect data quickly from students. It can be used as a review game and to monitor students' progress. Students use portable, easy-to-use handheld devices to lock in their answers. The following link can provide you with more information about the Classroom Performance System. Surveys and polls are helpful for teachers to collect meaningful data from students regarding their progress, interests, comprehension skills, or really anything else the teacher wants to know from his or her students. I had the opportunity to make both during this course. My poll asks the simple question, "What is your favorite subject?" The students answer the question using a text message sent from their cell phones (usingPoll Eveywhere). I think students would enjoy this because they get to use their phones in class. The survey was created using the website, Survey Monkey, where students answer questions on the computer. I think that both of these approaches make learning fun and relatable for the students.
